Boruto: Why Genjutsu Rarely Used in Boruto Series?
There are three categories of ninja techniques that are widely used in the Naruto and Boruto series, namely Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and the most interesting one, Genjutsu.
Of the three Jutsu, Genjutsu is a ninja technique that is rarely mentioned or discussed in the original series.
This is natural because, despite the series having many shinobi in the story, not all of them are able to master Genjutsu.
This is certainly different from Ninjutsu or Taijutsu. Even since the Naruto series ended, some fans thought that the importance of the Genjutsu element in the story began to disappear.
So far, the series has presented very few examples of Genjutsu or presented Genjutsu moments in the story.
But, Why Genjutsu rarely appears in the Boruto series??
The Otsutsuki Clan is the Biggest Reason
Genjutsu is one of the most important ninja techniques in Naruto series, this is not the case in the Boruto series.
In fact, we can say the ninja technique was almost forgotten.
Genjutsu users in the Naruto series don't get too much attention in the story.
However, there are quite a few things in the series that show how Genjutsu becomes a fairly important element.
We could see some of Genjutsu users in Naruto series like Sasuke, Itachi, Obito, or even Kakashi.
Each of them hold an important parts for the plot that's why Genjutsu also an important element in Naruto series.
Meanwhile, Boruto series rarely shown Genjutsu users.
One of Genjutsu users we could found in Boruto is Sarada Uchiha.
Only her and no other else.
Based on this, many fans then came up with theories related to Genjutsu.
In the theory, fans explain that maybe this type of Jutsu is no longer important in the world of Boruto.
Why is that? This is because of the tremendous power of the villains in the latest generation that appears in the series.
The most popular villain in the Boruto series so far is the Otsutsuki clan.
They were an extremely powerful clan that came from beyond the earth.
Their abilities are formidable, even surpassing the techniques of any other shinobi on earth.
In fact, they are the creators or ancestors of various Jutsu elements and shinobi on earth.
Techniques like Genjutsu certainly won't have any effect on them, as we saw in the previous fight against Isshiki Otsutuki.
Sasuke seemed completely helpless against the strongest Otsutsuki so far.
Momoshiki himself said that Sasuke's Rinnegan was very annoying.
Even though in their fight Momoshiki had trouble dealing with the Doujutsu, in the end, the technique did not have much effect on Momoshiki.
So, the speculation that Genjutsu is no longer important in the Boruto series because of the Otsutsuki clan is quite reasonable.
The Decline of Uchiha's Clan
Uchiha is known as the strongest Genjutsu user in the Shinobi world.
Most of powerful Genjutsu user was born from this clan.
After the massacre of the Uchiha Clan, the amount of Genjutsu users was decreasing a lot.
In Boruto series, Sarada is the only descendant of Uchiha.
The lack of Genjutsu user and Otsutsuki clan are the reasons why Genjutsu rarely appears in the recent series.
